Salmon Fly Honey Rye

Salmon Fly Honey Rye is another fine Montana beer from Belgrade. Brewed with the spiciness of rye and a hint of Montana honey, it's a flavorful, light beer. I can't help but notice the resemblance to Big Sky's Summer Honey. They are both very good beers, but I think this one wins. Lately I've noticed something different with Summer Honey. It doesn't quite taste the same way as I remember it from '07. Something tastes different about it to me. The other thing is, this is a beer produced year-round instead of a seasonal like Summer Honey. I look forward to their other 3 beers. I've shied away from them after trying one at the Wine Festival last year and haven't tried it since seeing it on tap at Rhinos. I think the reason it didn't taste that great was because it wasn't quite chilled.

Great artwork on the label, too:

BREAKING: Paris Hilton's Dogs are Alive and Well

CNN links to a People magazine article reporting that Paris Hilton's dogs are doing fine, despite Internet reports that they were eaten by a coyote.

After the recent deluge of news stories about the impending financial doom for our blessed country, I'm so fucking glad that her dogs are doing fine.

A better scenario would be that Paris herself would be eaten by coyotes while walking down the street after a uninhibited shopping spree. They would still be hungry, I'm sure. We could then use all the money she did nothing to earn, ahem, I mean inherited, and give it to the homeless. Coyotes could save the world.

I know it's easy to take potshots at that do-nothing cunt, but CNN really needs to fire whoever lets this non-story celebrity bullshit on their front page.

2 David Simon Interviews

From an interview with David Simon:

I had been warned that an evening with Baltimore's finest might prove punishing. 'One thing you've got to know about the homicide detectives,' said David Simon, the creator of the cult television series The Wire, 'is they can drink more than anyone else. They taught me how to drink in a year. They taught me how to drink the morning after a night of drinking. In one year of working with them, my liver swelled to twice its size.'
And another:
But if the cop has nowhere to put this nightmare, where does the man standing next to him with the notebook put it?

“I think I started putting it in the same place the detectives do. Which is, I can remember with great precision the first murder scene I went to,” he says. “I can remember everything about Kenny Vines,” a drug dealer found murdered at the start of the book. “He's fixed in my mind. Kenny Vines and me are going to the grave together.” Simon must mean it. Because it's 20 years later and the name is right there, and I can practically see the body in front of his eyes.
I still remember reading the chapter in Homicide describing the first time he went into an autopsy room. Chilling.
